Winter

In winter, snow and ice on the Jvari Pass may temporarily close the road or make snow chains necessary; check road conditions before you set off.

Summer

In summer the road is generally clear, but on busy tourist days traffic near Ananuri and towards Gudauri may slow down.

All year

For the Gudauri road in winter, we recommend an all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle, such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
